There was more than enough rain today to turn the shoulders of the streets into streams and the sidewalks into patches of puddles deep enough to submerge one's feet. (This is about as close as ordinary life comes to being a video-game jumping puzzle, I s'pose.) Still, the rain does make things shiny--things like bricks in the picture of the day.

kamoranakrre thinks splashing through the puddles would be fun if there weren't things to be doing that are more comfortably accomplished with dry (and warm!) feet.

Oh yes! Except for when it's hot and summer and you're in flip-flops and shorts, I've never understood why it's supposed to be fun to jump in puddles. Actually, when it's hot and summer and you're in flip-flops and shorts, I'd rather run through a sprinkler than jump in a puddle that's been sitting around collecting road oil and mosquito larvae.

But I do understand that some people actually like road oil and mosquito larvae. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
