15 North

Spotted Wolf Canyon View Area

The first (and only previous time) I was in Utah, it was the middle of the night. (We ate dinner in Denver, Colorado and breakfast in Las Vegas, Nevada.) So when planning a route back from Los Angeles, California, I thought it might be nice to see what Utah looked like in the daytime. It turns out that it's very pretty. I visited the Kolob Canyons section of Zion National Park as well as many of the "View Areas" (which also have restrooms, to my surprise) along Interstate 70 in the 100-mile expanse of no services. I took many pictures today, but there can be only one picture of the day.

According to a sign posted in the view area, this section of Interstate 70 was only widened to four lanes in the 1980's. The canyon was originally narrow enough here that one could touch both sides of it.

kamoranakrre also made a new userpic from Utah. It's from just outside Kolob Canyons. He also has a picture of the 15 North Café in West Chester, Pennsylvania. The two locations are quite different, he thinks.
