One of the features of regularly walking along the street here is being attacked by falling leaves. They don't really pose much of an actual threat, but they do make a nice crunching sound when underfoot. I hope you like leaves, because there's a good chance that before winter arrives you'll see plenty more in the picture of the day.

You'd be surprised at how vicious a falling leaf can be, when cornered.

If you must walk among falling leaves, be alert. Hold your head up high, to appear bigger, and walk confidently. Leaves can smell fear.

If you ever find yourself between a mother leaf and her leaflets, move out of the way as quickly as possible. Never pick up a stray leaflet that you see on the sidewalk. The mother leaf is generally nearby, and may attack if she thinks you are threatening the leaflet.

Keep this advice in mind, and you will be able to safely enjoy the falling leaves.
