Last night, kamoranakrre, azigazi, and lcd_cow decided to brave the freeways to head out to the land of thornspeak and 0den. Normally, driving into Columbia, Missouri takes about two hours or so. But this time it was seven. It would have been a little over five (which is about what they expected) but one mile from the city limits, traffic just stopped.
And sat there.
...until about 90 minutes later when we just drove on, and everything was fine. We did see some 20-odd cars off the road during our travels, which is why I thought going 20 miles an hour on the interstate was a fine pace to set. We did see some people go by who apparently thought 50 was a better choice... I wonder how many of them made it to their destinations.
Anyhow, this morning there was, unsurprisingly, still more than a foot of snow around town. Which brings us to... the picture of the day.
That sign in the background reads: We apologize, but the shuttle is out of service today. It's funny (though understandable) that the days when it would most come in handy are the days it doesn't operate...
